Bray Park area to close while work is carried out
THE stage area at Bray Park, Boyne Island will be closed temporarily to allow for the installation of a new hard roof structure.
Gladstone Regional Council this week confirmed construction works would be undertaken from April 23 to May 4, weather permitting.
Gladstone Mayor Gail Sellers said the hard roof would replace the previous PVC shade sails which were removed due to deterioration.
"The new hard roof will provide permanent shade and weather protection for community groups and organisations using the stage for events," Cr Sellers said.
"The Bray Park stage is a key community facility, and the hard roof will reduce impacts rain and heat may have on activities held there, making it more user-friendly.
"The roof will be installed in time for one of the region's biggest events, the Boyne Tannum Hook-Up on the June long weekend.
"Hook-Up organisers use the stage for presentations and entertainment throughout the fishing competition, and I am certain they will welcome the new roof," Cr Sellers said.
The stage area will be closed to the public while construction work is completed.
