Brad goes from clearing drains to strumming guitar

MUSIC is his hobby - a hobby that has turned into a part-time gig for Gladstone teacher Brad Fry.

The local manual arts teacher is the lead guitarist in Just Quietly.

The band came on the scene late last year.

But before teaching, Brad was a true blue tradie and worked as a plumber.

"I studied teaching through Griffith University and did it externally while I was still plumbing," he said.

"I moved from plumbing to teaching because I had seen that it could be done - my father had done the same.

Brad is a dedicated father to two children.

His kids are Dylan, 11, and Taylor, 10. Of course, the two kids think Just Quietly is the best band in the world.

Living in Gladstone offers the ideal lifestyle for Brad who said he thought residents were very lucky to have what we have in this region.

"The lifestyle and climate are great," he said.

"There's things to do when you're bored and it's a nice place to do nothing when you want some downtime."
