Watch: Bimblebox brings diverse display to gallery

CREATIVE CURRENTS: Take the opportunity to explore the winter season of exhibitions at the Gladstone Regional Art Gallery and Museum, with something for everyone on offer, during Bimblebox: art - science - nature and Arts NAIDOC.

Inspired by the Bimblebox Nature Refuge, Bimblebox: art - science - nature features a diversity of works including paintings, installations, photographs, assemblages, artist books, digital media, soundscapes and printmaking works.

The exhibiting group of artists camped on the reserve to capture the environmental, social and scientific significance of this unique landscape, documenting, drawing and recording their experiences.

Educational resource kits and a free interactive iPad catalogue are available online at

Bimblebox is a touring exhibition partnered by Museums and Galleries Queensland and Redland Art Gallery in association with Bimblebox Nature Refuge.

The 2003 Gladstone Indigenous Vocation and Enterprise Network exhibition: Coastal Connections, is a unique inclusion this year.

As part of the GIVEN project, students travelled to Facing Island to take part in a variety of activities including Aboriginal languages, art forms, song, dance and ecology.
