Big swells tipped for Tide N Turn

ANOTHER great swell hit the Queensland coast this week and we sure got our share.

It didn't hang around, but Monday and Tuesday were big, and it looks like there is more on the way, with stronger south-easterlies due to kick in tomorrow.

Hopefully, some swell will hang around for the Australia Day holiday on Thursday and into the Tide N Turn Australia Day contest at Agnes Water next Saturday.

The boys and girls from Tide N Turn are planning a big year in 2012, with plenty of entries already for the Australia Day competition and the iconic Agnes Water Longboard Classic in March.

New club president Paul White reckons the club has never looked stronger going into a new year, with membership up and sponsors getting on board.

"We've got DC Cruisers (Agnes Water adventure tourism specialists) and Agnes Pre-Mix Concrete already there, and some of the big companies in Gladstone are now wanting to get involved," White said.

For more information on the Australia Day competition and the Longboard Classic contact White on 0403 423 829 or check out the Reef2Beach surf shop website at www.Reef2Beach.com.

The Agnes Water Longboard Classic is perfectly placed on the weekend of March 3-4. This puts the classic on the radar of a few of the big names coming for the Noosa Festival of Surfing the following week.

Defending Longboard Classic champion Brett White (Noosa) will be back and the rumour is Californian champion and defending Noosa champ Taylor Jensen could be back at Agnes.
