Investigations into Rules Beach vehicle access underway

INVESTIGATIONS into when and how vehicles will be able to access Rules Beach in Baffle Creek again are underway, according to Gladstone Regional Council.

Mayor Gail Sellers has hit back at angry locals who say the newly built pedestrian walkway will hinder vehicle access to the popular tourist destination in the future.

"The walkway is in the same alignment and location as the previous pedestrian access," she said.

"By using the same footprint of the pedestrian access track, no further delays through approvals were incurred."

Cr Sellers said all options for vehicle access were being explored and the most suitable access that met legislation would be considered.

She said the next step in the Rules Beach access project would include developing future partnerships with key stakeholders and consulting other government agencies.

Rules Beach activist Tony Bridges said he was stunned by the council's efforts to restrict beach access.
