Basketball ‘fraud’ case adjourned
A CASE of $20,000 fraud alleged against basketball professional Derek Rucker by the Gladstone Basketball Association received a brief mention in Gladstone Magistrates Court.
Rucker, 49, did not have to appear and was represented by his lawyer via a telephone link with magistrate Richard Lehmann.
Rucker, the former Port City Power Basketball chairman, operations manager and men's head coach, is charged with dishonestly gaining a financial benefit from GBA between July 28 and November 19 last year; and committing fraud between September 6 and October 1, 2015.
His lawyer said there was material to be discussed with police prosecution before his legal position was disclosed. The case was adjourned to July.
