Flood hits Baffle residents worse than 2010/11 disaster

THE floods of 2010/2011 were pretty bad at Baffle Creek, but ex-tropical cyclone Oswald took it to new levels this week.

Jodie Healy, who runs the community centre-postal agency at Baffle, said this time not only did low-lying homes and businesses flood, so too did many much higher up.

"It didn't get up here to the shops last time, but it did this week," Ms Healy said.

"It came up to about here (about one metre) through the shop, but everything was low down and it's all just wrecked."

Jodie provides an important link for the people of Baffle Creek as the Australia Post agency, library and also public internet access.

"All the postal stock is just ruined and so are all the books," she said.

But just like most in the tiny coastal hamlet, Jody said she was okay.
