Brothers captain returns to inspire first win of season
RETURNING to the field last season after taking a break to re-establish his motivation, Will Jarvis is captaining Brothers partly for that reason.
Despite still feeling the toughness of matches well into the week, Jarvis's experience and hunger is working.
On Saturday the lock's guidance helped his team to overcome premiers Valleys for Brothers' first win of the season.
"We were happy with the boys," Jarvis said. "Valleys are the pick of the pack."
After playing both reserve grade and the top grade in 2013, Jarvis has committed to playing with the Steve Southern-coached A-grade side this season and was promptly delivered the captaincy.
Jarvis is glad he returned to the field after admitting he needed a break.
"I had been playing for a long time and lost the drive," he said.
"I got itchy feet and ended up training and then playing again."
Now adamant as the weeks go on that his days are numbered, Jarvis is now at the footy fields for two reasons on a weekend.
This year is the first year his son, also Will, is playing rugby league, lining up for Brothers in the junior ranks.
"He comes out and watches me. He is a little Broncos and Cowboys fan."
"I have been playing for Brothers 15 years myself."
With a victory over Valleys, Brothers and Jarvis have announced their arrival.
