Tickets available for Gladstone's Autism Awareness Ball

CALL up the Gladstone Entertainment Centre today because there are still tickets available for the Autism Awareness Ball.

Presented by Kids Outside the Box, the inaugural ball will be held on May 11 at The Grand Hotel from 5.30pm and costs $100 per person.

The formal event will have live music by local artists, and guest speeches by Harold Stone who was diagnosed with Aspergers Syndrome at age 42, president of Autism Support Gladstone Katy Fowle, and Samara Lewis who is a young adult on the spectrum.

Ms Fowle said Harold was well known by the school system and will be visiting Boyne Island State School and Rosella State School during his visit to the area.

"He's got a lot of insightful things to say," Ms Fowle said.

Kids Outside the Box are hoping that through the funds raised from the ball that they will be able to bring Tony Atwood and Michelle Gardner to the region to speak to families, employers and educators about autism so as to create awareness.

"We want to see if any businesses want to sponsor a table so people can come that might not otherwise be able to," Ms Fowle said.
