What's happening at Gladstone region libraries
CHANGES are afoot at Miriam Vale Library.
For the past few months, renovations have been occurring at the Miriam Vale council offices.
Soon the library will move from its current location to the council offices, where there will be a larger space available for people using the library.
As part of the Andy Griffiths theme for July and August, a portion of the 52-Storey Treehouse Play Space is now set up at Gladstone Library.
The play space was originally erected at the Brisbane Exhibition in 2014 and, thanks to our partnership with Brisbane Writers Festival, a portion of the space has been transported to Gladstone.
On display since last week, the play space has proved a great hit, with children crawling through tunnels, playing giant snakes and ladders, sitting in the "pool" having fun.
The play space will be set up at Gladstone Library until August 31.
Holiday craft next week centres on the treehouse and Andy Griffiths theme, with activities at Calliope and Agnes Water libraries on Wednesday, July 8, at 9.30am, and Mt Larcom and Boyne Island libraries on Thursday, July 9, at 9.30am.
The fun continues after the holidays, with author Andy Griffiths signing books at Gladstone Library on Tuesday, July 14, from 4-6pm.
There will be copies of the books on sale at the time or bring along your own to be signed by this popular children's author.
As Andy will be very busy signing for his fans, there are a few rules we would ask people to follow.
Each person may only have one book signed, unless it is a copy of Andy's new book the 52-Storey Treehouse, and there can be no drawings or dedications in the book.
Photos will be permitted.
