Artist wraps up float design ready for festival parade
THE Gladstone Regional Council entry for the Gladstone Harbour Festival 2015 Lanterns and Lights Street Parade is carefully hidden under wraps this week, as local artist Belynda (Bindi) Waugh adds the finishing touches to her innovative design.
Teaming up with council staff, Bindi spoke about the design as a visual spectacle that will honour the parade's 2015 theme and celebrate its twilight presentation.
"The design will incorporate a lantern and light fantasia," she said.
"Featuring a tree of lights and well-lit lantern sculptures, we're looking forward to a bright and festive display."
Presented by Workforce International and co-ordinated by Midday Rotary, the parade will start at 6pm in the Lincraft car park on Bramston St, beside the Gladstone Region Art Gallery and Museum, on Good Friday.
The decorated floats will travel along Goondoon St before turning left into Lord St and then right to parade across the Marina Bridge, travelling along Bryan Jordan Dr, all the way to the Mission to Seafarers building.
Make sure you arrive early to take up some of the best vantage points at the museum, Gladstone Civic Centre, Gladstone City Library and Gladstone Entertainment Convention Centre.
