Prospective university students enjoy open day buzz

PROSPECTIVE university student Maddy Graham, 12, got a real buzz out of yesterday's CQUniversity Open Day.

With her long, curly locks, the electrical trade educators quickly snapped her up to try their most popular machine.

Put simply, it's a machine that'll have your hair standing on end.

"It felt really weird.

"I like science, but I haven't done anything like that before," she said.

Maddy was at the open day with her mum and older sister, who was also keen to learn more about the opportunities there.

One day she hopes to study a degree in education.

She said her dream to become a teacher stemmed from her love for learning, and because it's the same field that her mum is in.

"I really like learning.

"I'd prefer to be a primary school teacher I think.

"I like English so I'd be keen to focus on that," the Kin Kora State School student said.

The campus offered live music, a sausage sizzle and information on current projects and courses.
