Footy Show angers an entire nationality

THE AFL version of The Footy Show has reportedly come under fire for a skit involving Shane Crawford in this week's episode.

The Herald Sun reports Stefan Romaniw of the Australian Federation Of Ukrainian Organisations has complained to Channel 9 about Crawford mistakenly referring to Ukrainian entertainers the Cossack Brothers as Russian during Wednesday night's episode.

"AFUO has formally complained to Channel 9 Footy Show (about) Shane Crawford's cardinal mistake misrepresenting Ukrainian Cossack Bros as Russian," Romaniw wrote on Facebook.

"The AFUO has demanded an apology on next week's show. The AFUO calls on community members to call Channel 9 and demand the same."

The Association of Ukrainians in Victoria was also unhappy and called on its members to voice their dissatisfaction with the broadcaster.

"The Footy Show (Shane Crawford) just showed a clip of 'Cossack Brothers' Ukrainian dancing group and referred to them as 'Russian dancing,'" a post on the organisation's Facebook page read.

"Come on Channel 9 - get your facts right!!!"

In a lighthearted segment, Hawthorn premiership hero Crawford dressed in some Russian attire and showed off his best dance moves alongside professionals.

Then he threw to an old clip of fellow Footy Show panellist Sam Newman dancing with the Ukrainian Cossack Brothers and said: "If you thought that was some wonderful dancing, let's look back in time when the old Foss (Newman) had a bit of a go at Russian dancing."

The historically frosty relationship between the neighbouring Russia and Ukraine deteriorated further when Russia militarily invaded parts of the Ukraine in 2014, during which it annexed Crimea, sparking outrage across the globe.

The Footy Show's Twitter account posted the clip of Crawford's skit but appeared to delete it on Friday morning.
