$1000 acreage block at Boyne Valley is home for couple

BETTY and Dennis Martin bought 80 acres in the Boyne Valley back in 1975 - for $1000.

Mrs Martin was born in Biloela and Dennis was born at Mount Morgan, so they didn't travel far from home.

Their block of land is surrounded by forest; the couple wouldn't have it any other way.

"We used to grow bananas and mangos organically at our place but it was too hard on the land," Mrs Martin said.

The couple spent nine years travelling south to Tamworth and further to Tasmania but it's their love of Central Queensland and their Ubobo farm that brought them back.

"I said to Dennis, if we don't move back to town we'll have kids all over Australia," Mrs Martin laughed.

The couple runs Harmony Farm with 17 horses, chickens, dogs, sheep and of course cattle.
