A running start to Australia Day alongside the sea

RUNNING: The Millenium Esplanade will be a hive of activity with the Australia Day Fun Run Dash For Cash hosted by the Gladstone Road Runners Club.

For those who are keen for an early morning start today, simply put on a pair of running shoes, shorts, singlet or T-shirts and go to the registration desk at the entrance where BAM is held.

"The past two years there have been more than 200 runs and we are hoping for the same amount,” club registrar Tony Smith said.

"It's a low-cost event and there will be cash prizes for the place-getters and random prizes for anyone who runs and these will be drawn post-race.”

Distances are either 2km or 5km and cost is $5 per person or $20 for a family.

People are encouraged to come and register at 6.15am for a 7am start.
