Classic weekend of action with Reef 2 Beach, Quicksilver Pro

IT IS finally here, and for surfing this weekend, 'it' means two things.

One; the Reef 2 Beach Longboard Classic, it has been a long year having to wait for this to roll around again.

The 13 divisions host more than 100 competitors, with plenty of juniors and women; it is a healthy line-up.

There might be a bit of rain around, but it steadily improves across the three days.

Tell you what, I am keen to see what our surfers have, it is bound to be brilliant.

Two; the world stage is officially back, the Quicksilver Pro kicking off the ASP World Surfing Tour.

Held on the Gold Coast, the event is sure to be a cracker, especially with the four-foot swell predicted down that way to begin over the weekend.

There may be an issue arise if a cyclone forms, with a low pressure system coming off the coast next week and the possibility of a problem.

But I am keen to see our 13 Australian hopes take out everyone else, hopefully charge at the title and eventually a world title.

Kelly Slater might have something to say about that though, the defending champion here at Snapper Rocks.
