Tourism QLD and Flight Centre join forces

TOURISM and Events Queensland and Flight Centre Travel Group have joined forces in a new $6 million commercial partnership to promote Queensland globally as a premier tourism and events destination.

Tourism and Events Queensland chief executive Leanne Coddington said on Friday the new agreement was a first for the organisation with a travel retailer and continued the organisation's focus on strengthening commercial partnerships.

"We are always looking for new ways to deliver on TEQ's objective to increase visitor numbers, length of stay and tourism spend across Queensland destinations and this partnership with Flight Centre is a fantastic fit," she said.

"This landmark deal will strengthen the marketing of Queensland destinations and holiday experiences.

"It ensures a year-round approach is adopted to keep Queensland destinations top of mind amongst Flight Centre customers with extensive in-store and online promotions."

Tourism Minister Jann Stuckey said the three-year agreement was designed to further strengthen inbound tourism to Queensland.

"The agreement will see the two partners work more closely to promote travel to Queensland's destinations from some of the state's most valuable visitor markets including the United Kingdom, New Zealand and Australia," she said.

"This partnership with Australia's largest travel retailer will promote Queensland as the premier tourist destination and deliver on the election promise to grow tourism as one of the four pillars of the economy." - APN Newsdesk.
